Burdock Weed

Burdock Weed

Uncover Hidden Herbs meanings

Burdock also goes by the name of bat weed.

It is a biennial plant that is native to some parts of Europe, Asia and Africa, but it can also be found in some parts of North America. Though considered a weed by most, it is a useful healing plant and is even used in cooking.

Burdock is associated with the power of the planet Venus, the zodiac signs Libra and Sagittarius and the element Water. It has been used as a fasting tea in some Indian traditions and as an aphrodisiac in China.

Burdock is considered a powerful herb. It is best known for its cleansing, protective and uncrossing powers. It was used to protect homes and stables and is said to play a role in transfer magic. Burdock roots protect against evil and negativity when gathered during a warning moon or when worn as small pieces that have been strung together on a red thread.

Drying and scattering burdock around the house and placing it in amulets and in bowls of potpourri also help get rid of and ward off negativity. It is used as an ingredient in a purifying Scrub, which is made by adding to scrub water the strained tea of Burdock root, mixed with Broom Corn, Rosemary, and/or Lemon Grass.

Burdock will

  • Protect you.
  • Heal you.
  • Cleanse you.
  • Restore male nature.
  • Help with exorcism.

The purifying scrub is used to clean the premises and as a floor wash to purify a room where a ritual will be held. During the ritual, sprinkle it on all four corners of the room. Burdock root tea should also be used to purify the altar once a year. For protection, make a herbal bath to keep off jinxes and carry a burock root in a mojo bag (white colored) along with a selection of protective herbs. Burdock root is also believed to enhance protective incense and spells when added. To restore male nature if a man’s sex life has been fixed, steep pieces of burdock root in Olive Oil and use the oil as a genital scrub to restore power.
