Uncover Hidden Dream Meanings

Cages can either be an extremely negative or an extremely positive sign in a dream. If you dream you are trapped or if you feel caged in, it can be a negative sign or a signal of the disconnection you feel with the rest of the world.

If there is a chance for escape in your dream, however, it can be a very positive sign. Dreams about cages communicate our biggest fears and anxieties, and the way we bottle up our feelings.

In your dream you may have

  • Seen a cage.
  • Been trapped in a cage
  • Seen something or someone else trapped in a cage.
  • Escaped from a cage.
  • Helped someone or something escape from a cage.
  • Trapped someone or something in a cage.
  • Entered a cage willingly.
  • Run away from a cage.
  • Been in a room that turned into a cage.

Positive changes are afoot if

  • You were able to escape the cage.
  • You were in the cage for a short period of time and you entered willingly.
  • You trapped an enemy in a cage.
  • You saw an opportunity to escape before you woke up.
  • The cage was trapping a negative object, such as a monster.

Detailed dream interpretation

If there is a cage in your dream, something is being imprisoned, hidden, or suppressed in real life. If you are in the cage yourself, and you do not escape at any point in the dream, this could mean several things. You may be lying to yourself or others or not completely communicating feelings. You might be afraid of someone or something so you are hiding yourself from the outside world (especially if you entered the cage willingly). Is there something you are keeping from the people close to you? Is there a secret from your past that has been on your mind? You may need to talk to a family member or a counselor.

If there was a chance for escape in the dream about the cage, it is a more positive sign that you are letting go of those feelings that may have been holding you back. You may be letting go of old grudges or regrets, or forgiving yourself for something that happened a long time ago.

If you were able to escape and you ran, you may have trouble confronting your problems in real life. If you saw an opportunity to escape but you did not take advantage of it, or you did not want to escape, this could mean the same thing.

If you trapped someone else in the cage, you have been shutting this person out or ignoring them lately. If the person you trapped was an enemy, it could be a positive sign. You face your demons and tell them how you feel. If the person you trapped was a stranger, you have a fear of the way that other people judge you, so you are quick to judge others. You cannot face your insecurities or talk about the things that bother you most.

If you trapped an object in a cage, it could demonstrate what kinds of things you want the most. For example, if you trapped a telephone, you might be longing for communication. If you trapped food, you are searching for energy to get you through difficult times. If the cage in your dream was completely empty, you are not sure what you want out of life. If there were other people in the cage with you, you are feeling like you want to have more people in your life.

This dream is in association with the following scenarios in your life

  • Communication with others.
  • Facing your demons.
  • Finding yourself.
  • Getting what you want out of life.
