Improving Sleep
Uncover Hidden Dream Meanings
The most frequent question related to sleeping is why do we need to “sleep” in the first place.
According to scientific research, sleeping per say plays a vital role in our health and well-being. Although many people consider sleeping as a passive activity, the fact remains that when we sleep our body is supporting healthy brain functions. What you do in the day time and how you feel when you are awake often depends on the quality of sleep. Getting enough quality sleep can improve your mental and physical health, as well as the quality of your lifestyle. Are you having problems related to insomnia recently or want to take your sleeping practice on a higher level? Keep reading and check out these seven great ways to improve your sleep starting tonight.
Set up a sleep routine
By setting up a sleep routine you will ‘force’ your brain to go to sleep every night at the same time and wake up in the morning at the time you decide it’s best for you. Our brain has the ability to easily adjust to routine and accepts commands once you repeat the sleeping routine a few times. Aside from going to bed and waking up at a particular time, once you set up a sleep routine, you will also need to do the same activities before sleeping every night to adjust your brain to your routine completely.
Practice yoga or exercise at the gym before going to sleep
Practicing yoga a few hours before you go to sleep can improve your sleeping quality and help you beat insomnia due to its relaxing effect on your mind and body. However, if you want to perform something more extreme that will tire your body and help you sleep better and deeper – exercise at the gym 3 hours before going to sleep is the perfect choice for you.
Avoid foods or drinks that can stimulate your brain
People who consume coke, cigarettes, alcohol, coffee, energy drinks or foods that burden the stomach are more prone to insomnia than people who avoid them. Improving your sleep means excluding every food or drink that stimulates your brain and can keep you awake longer than you planned during the night.
Read a book or solve crosswords
Pick a good book and allow yourself to escape reality every night before you go to sleep. Not that you will improve your sleep but also gain a lot of benefits from reading. Solving crosswords is also an option when it comes to finding an amusement before sleeping because enigmatic games will not only tire your brain to sleep but also improve your mental health and sharpen your focus.
Sex is always the best solution
Sex is always the answer to all the questions, even when it comes to the one related to sleep. According to scientists, having sex before bedtime may undoubtedly improve your sleep and help you defeat insomnia. Wonder how? While having sex, our body naturally releases neuropeptides known as endorphins which are the driving force behind the natural states of euphoria. And we all know that euphoria lowers stress that’s often the main cause of insomnia, which leads to the conclusion that sex is good for your sleep.
Create an ideal sleeping environment
Creating the perfect sleeping environment can certainly improve your sleep. What you need to do first in order to create the ideal sleep environment it to lose ALL the lights. Forget about the minimal lighting because your body has absorbed enough light and sunlight during the day. Losing all the lights in your bedroom is very important because in darkness our pineal glands produce melatonin which regulates hormones and body temperature. Keep in mind that even a small amount of artificial light, such as the light numbers on your alarm (cover them with duck tape) can interrupt this process and lead to insomnia.
Listen to soft music and practice daydreaming
For those who prefer to do something different than reading, exercising, practicing yoga or having sex, listening to soft music is the perfect solution for improving your sleep. If you’re a rain lover you can also play a one hour rain and thunder melody which is proven to improve people’s sleep due to the calming effect of the raindrops. Another modern way to improve your sleep is daydreaming. Never heard of the term? You don’t know what you’re missing. A daydreamer is a person who dreams with eyes wide open. Wonder how? Play the soft music we talked about and dive into your ideal fantasy world. Pleasant and warm feelings will overwhelm your body and mind and you will fall asleep like a baby.
