Resplendent Quetzal
A resplendent Quetzal is a green colored bird.
As an animal totem the bird helps guide the path to riches. It can measure between 36 to 40 cm (excluding its tail) and weighs at around 210g.
Resplendent Quetzals are notable for their green body and red chest. Their bill is slightly covered with green feathers. Their skin is too thin and can be easily torn. It has a huge eye that can be very functional on dim lights.
Quetzals are regarded as a legendary species on the various tribes of the Native Indians in Central America. Quetzalcoatl, a representation of the good spirit for the Mayans and also the Aztecs is depicted with a serpent head and decorated with the feathers of a Resplendent Quetzal. The bird is sacred and killing a quetzal is punishable by death, thus after the tribe’s have plucked its feather, both tribes are releasing this bird into the wild. The Aztec predicted that the Quetzalcoatl will return as a king of God in 1519, incidentally when Cortez reached the harbor of Vera Cruz a head dress adorned with a quetzal feather is given to him.
Recent evidence from the pyramid of ChichenIzta showed that this bird is also associated with a Mayan God named Kukulcan. The pyramid was constructed in such a manner that can resonate the same sound of a quetzal when you clap.
When this creature presents itself to you, it is telling you to go on and continue your life, never give up. You are undergoing this trial to become a better person, make the most out of every situation, and realize that events like this can bring out the best in you.
Quetzal people are survivors, perhaps they have been into tougher situations and they can rise through unfortunate moments with ease. They are those people that have a niche in surviving natural disasters and difficult trials. Furthermore, quetzals can influence the behavior of their surrounding; people seek for them to find solitude and protection.
Quetzals can provide the assurance that they will protect you with their life, these people value their relationship. They enjoy the company of people they love and they are ready to defend them. But during the times when these people are in danger, they prefer not to be bothered and they want to deal with things on their own. Not that they don’t get the same help that they deserve, they just like it that way.
Quetzals can sometimes be rebellious; they always think that they can do everything without the help or consent of others. But this animal is a reminder that sometimes we are already hurting the people that matter to us without even realizing it. We must also take these into consideration before deciding what we would like to do.
A person who embodies the persona of a quetzalis a bit stubborn but is vocal to say his feelings and will make you feel important, but there are times when he does not consult with people that will be affected with his decisions thus, causing them harm. Sadly these people have a difficulty in learning about life and will continue will confusion. Remember that a resplendent quetzal is a good friend that you can count on, but can also turn out to be your enemy.
